All the museums were open in Mainz from 6pm-1am Saturday night - so Elaine, Brody, and I took advantage. We paid a small price to see all the amazing things that these museums had to offer. We first went on an hour long tour, then we went to town and were busy busy busy walking all over town. My favorite part by far was the African performance with 5 natives from Zimbabwe who danced/sang/played different instruments for well over an hour with high high energy - it was amazing. I would love to study the culture and learn how to play some of their instruments and dance - we'll see if they would adopt me in like the Polynesians have! :)

Sittin' in the Rain
Bed-Hog

I feel like that should be middle name after last night.
I had to get up at 3:45am Wednesday morning after only 4hrs of sleep to go to the Netherlands for dance. I made it home by 7pm – hung out with Brody and was in the middle of watching Spaceballs (both for our first time – lol – don’t know how we both managed to make it this long without seeing it!) when I knew I couldn’t fight my exhaustion any longer. I was in bed and completely out by 10pm.
I woke up completely confused when the alarm suddenly goes off. I shut it off – but I can’t see what time it is because it’s dark and when I press the glow light the numbers fade because the battery is dying.
Then all of the sudden Brody comes into the room and lays down. Now I’m really confused. What time is it and where have you been? He says 3:45 – and I’m like huh? I told him to stop messing with my head and then repeated my question to him about why he wasn’t in bed before.
He tells me that I hadn’t turned off the alarm from the previous morning, and when he had tried to come to bed – he couldn’t because I was all over it. I said “why didn’t you push me over?” He says, “I tried, but you pushed back – so I was sleeping on the couch.” I felt so horrible – and I have absolutely no recollection of this happening – but I must have made it a rough night for him because it’s 9:30am, I got up at 7, and he’s still sleeping – which hardly ever happens. I’m so sorry Brody!

Running
Many of you may cringe at the word, some of you may find joy in it as I do. But - just like everyone else, some days it takes a lot more convincing of myself to get out there than others - but once I'm out - I get 'in the mode' and absolutely enjoy myself.
As you can see, I have put good use to these shoes....notice the hole is the heel - ouch!
If you could guess, I'm in search of new ones - anyone have any shoes that have good to them?

PfingstTurnier - Equestrian Tournament
cross-country horseback riding, jumping, dressage, and girls dancing on horses - We went all day on Saturday to the events which were held on the palace grounds in Wiesbaden. Brody was in heaven to say the least. Horses are truly beautiful and incredible animals - no wonder my mother has regretted not raising us with them - to be able to really appreciate them. But I'm getting there ;)
One Word - GLEE
Glee music is a regular tune listened to at our house - I love to listen to it while I'm cooking/baking, running, or even just hanging out - I call it my Happy Music :)
Sue: "I'm gonna make it a habit to not stop and talk to students because this has been a colossal waste of my time."
Love of Reading
Nothing like a good book to read. Our last book that both Brody & I read was A Thousand
Splendid Suns - written by Khalid Hosseini - who also wrote The Kite Runner (one of our favorites). It was a fast read; absolutely fascinating and horrible and good all at the same time. I love when books can really draw you in so that you are literally emotionally attached to the characters. Highly recommended.

Currently I am reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. Initially, it was difficult for me to get into it, but Dickens isn't known to be a brilliant writer for nothing - I'm hooked to say the least. Although it's a book that many may remember reading in HS, I'm sorry to say that I don't recall a thing. However, I feel that it makes it all the more griping to not know what is going to happen next. Between
WELCOME!
But in any case - welcome and we hope to keep you up to date with our lives and whereabouts.
Enjoy!
